COPIED AND PASTED SECTIONS OF TEXT ABOUT SEHGAL'S WORK, FOR MY LEARNING ONLY....AS THERE IS HARDLY ANYTHING ABOUT HIS WORK...DONE ON PURPOSE!!

"constructed situations": live encounters between visitors and those enacting the work.Sehgal’s abandoning of material production in favor of lived experience is nevertheless achieved with a sensitivity to classical considerations of form, composition and space, He is also thought of as a choreographer who makes dance for the museum setting.

Tino Sehgal is known for his works that question the role of the museum and audience in relation to market forces. His work establishes temporary situations, at turns disorientating and enchanting, but always engaging. Previous works have involved dancing museum guards, couples locked in a kiss, or even performers writhing on the floor of an empty gallery.

E.G OF WORKS:: (THERE IS ONLY PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCES WRITTEN UP AFTER THE EVENT HAS OCCURED... AND OCCASSIONALLY SOME LEAKED FOOTAGE)

For The Fifth Floor Sehgal will present a work entitled This is Exchange. On entering the gallery each visitor will be greeted by a person dressed as a Tate Liverpool Information Assistant and offered a small payment on the condition that they engage in a discussion on the economy. The work considers the meaning of exchange and the value of cultural knowledge, whilst also commenting on the economy and its relation to regeneration.

His materials are situations animated through references to art history and the participation of interpreters who use voice, re-enactment, language, movement, dramaturgy and interaction to shape the experiences of visitors.
